Our research across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google's AI answers found directory pages cited in the large majority of find-a-therapist responses.
Most directories charge monthly rent and route visitors into their own profile pages. This one is free, verifies licensure, publishes every listing as structured data, and sends visitors straight to your website — where they should end up anyway.

How is this different from Psychology Today or other directories?
Three ways. It's free — no monthly fee to be listed. It links out — every listing sends visitors straight to the practice's own website, not to a profile designed to keep them here. And it's machine-readable — each listing carries structured data (schema.org) so AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity can read and cite it. We built it because AI engines compose their therapist recommendations from directory pages, and therapists deserve one that doesn't charge rent for the privilege.
Who can be listed?
Licensed mental health professionals in active practice — therapists, counselors, psychologists, and clinical social workers. We verify licensure against state board records before publishing. You do NOT need to be a WebsiteTherapy customer; listings are free either way.
How do I get listed?
Send us a message with the word “directory,” your practice website, and your license details. We verify your license, build your listing from your own site's information, and email you a preview to approve before it goes live.
What's the catch?
None on the listing. We build AI-optimized websites for therapists — that's the business. A directory that demonstrates what machine-readable practice information looks like is good for the whole profession and, yes, good marketing for us. Your listing stays free whether or not you're ever a customer.
